Sanjay Gupta to acquire rights to a french thriller

October 01, 2008
Sanjay Gupta is enjoying making Acid Factory with Irrfan Khan, Danny Denzongpa, Fardeen Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea and Dia Mirza, so much that he has decided to make another film with exactly the same cast.

One with friends
Confirming this unique development, Gupta says, "Yes, I'm making another film with the same team. It's called Master Plan and it's based on a very interesting French film of the 1950s which I won't name because someone will beat me to it."

Gupta is in negotiations to buy the rights to the French film. "So the filmmaker notorious for ripping off unauthorised versions of foreign films is going legit," jokes Gupta. "In fact, I've also bought the rights of Chitra Bannerjee's novel Wine Of Desire which Pooja Bhatt will direct for me."

Why the Acid Factory actors? "Because they're my friends now. I'm a very lonely man and I need to have my friends working with me."

It's a journey
Gupta begins shooting Master Plan early 2009. "Then I go into Pathan which Gulzar Saab is writing for me. The story is a journey. Gulzar Saab is looking at the journey. I'm looking at the landscape through which this journey takes place.

He'll rewrite the same screenplay the way I now visualise it. I've told him to take his time because I'm going to need a whole crew of the best technicians
